Mission Statement

“Collaboration is necessary to show students that they are part of something bigger than them”

This is the ‘why’ of Pernille Ripp’s decision to start the Global Read Aloud back in 2010.

I want to encourage and foster connected learners.

I want to give kiwi students the opportunity to connect, share, and discuss learning by flattening the walls of our classrooms.

I want to develop a love of books and reading among all kids.

I want to show the power of taking yourself out of reality through story.

I want to do this through a ‘read aloud’ using the power of expression.

I want to have kids understand that they are a part of something bigger than them.

    • Hey Amy. Not too late to sign up! I don’t close the Google Form till the start of school year:) #NZreadaloud can work in any environment BUT it is worth reading a little about HOW it works best. Some of the posts on this blog will help you understand the pedagogy. The Google Form is on the blog under Year 7/8 tab OR join the FB group as loads of info goes there too. Let me know if I can help any other way:)

  2. Kia ora Kerri, I’ve signed up for the Year 5 & 6 readaloud and haven’t heard anything so far. I’ve bought the book and started preparing but am wondering if my google form entry was received.

    • Hey Fiona
All team leaders have been emailed their teams and I suggested they contact everyone either this week or early next. So you will hear from someone soon. Your team leader is Lisa Hayde and she is at St Pius X in Hamilton. She is awesome and will support you with what you need. Thanks for signing up:)
